Another great sunday afternoon.......

For those of you who don't know me, my passion is wildlife, mainly bears. I spend every chance I get hiking in the back country looking for the opportunity to photograph bears. I have the right gear so I can get great shots without disturbing the animals.  Most people see bears as blood thirsty killers looking to attack people at every opportunity. Trust me that is not the case! Now don't be fooled, they are very dangerous and need to be given the utmost respect and space. If you get too close and they feel threatened you will find yourself in big trouble. In most cases, if you find yourself in a bad situation with a wild animal it's because you have made a mistake or bad decision. Either you surprised them or you have something that is attracting them, such as FOOD. As you can see from the photo's below the bear was more interested in eating the fresh vegetation than me. I spent two hours with him, but I was not sitting there eating a salmon sandwich either. In most cases if a bear sees you it will turn and go the other way. It is important that bears don't see humans as a source for obtaining food. Once a bear gets the taste of human food or garbage it's a death sentence for the bear. Just like you, they are looking for an easy dinner and your garbage is like stopping at a fast food restaurant for a burger. So keep our wildlife wild and keep human food and garbage out of their reach.
